For the past few seasons the milan menswear shows have put forth some outrageous looks. Remember those faux fur sleeveless sasquatch shirts from Prada? Well, those days of frivolity and extravagance are gone, or at least on hiatus. Men's fashion is taking on a more sartorial and classic look—leaders of this trend were Gucci, Giorgio Armani and Prada. Could the depressed world economy have something to do with this? The clothing parading down the runways this season is well designed and completely wearable (a classic tailored look from Bottega Veneta). It's obvious that designers need people, in this case men, to start shopping again and the 2010 spring collections are the best evidence of this optimistic approach. Fingers crossed!
